Planning sessions will be held during June and July to develop an operating plan for the 2009-2010 year. Following dinner Chuck Molson and Graham Shorting delivered a thought provoking presentation entitled, “Creative thinking-it IS all about you…” They reminded us of the importance of changing our perspectives, which involves changing our values and beliefs, in order to think differently to help our customers solve their problems. They examined various strategies such as PMI, 6 Thinking Hats, PO and Random Input to help us be more creative. This year, HRPA sponsored the Chapter Participation Contest. The names of members who attended over 50% of the chapter meetings between September 2008 and May 2009 were entered into a draw for a full conference pass for the 2010 Annual Conference in Toronto. The announced winner is Colleen Cross. Written by Gord Stewart |

| Executive Profiles Kevin Stephenson Membership Recruitment & Retention I've been a Kingstonian my entire life and started my HR career 7 years ago after graduating from the program at St. Lawrence College. Shortly after, I joined Adecco working as an Onsite Staffing Coordinator at Proctor & Gamble in Brockville, followed by time spent helping run the local Manpower Services branch. I currently reside at Empire Life where I have been an HR Business Representative responsible for recruiting initiatives across all lines of business and corporate functions for the past 4 years. Throughout the year, I enjoy being an active member of various sports teams around the Kingston community. What do I look forward to most about being on the Board of Directors? The learning experience of being part of a network of HR professionals and having the opportunity to help organize and facilitate rewarding and engaging events for the chapter. The thing I like most about being a recruiter at Empire Life is the high energy, knowledgeable colleagues I work alongside each day. As far as the recruiting function goes, what better reward than to place qualified candidates in the right positions at the right time! |
